Jason Everett

About

Down But Never out

Jason Everett writes country-leaning songs built on grit, tension, and stubborn hope.

Raised in New England and shaped by time spent in the American South, his sound blends modern country energy with reflective, story-driven songwriting. It’s music rooted in real places and real seasons — valleys of doubt, long stretches of waiting, hard-won clarity, and the quiet resolve to keep moving forward.

Some songs lean into prayer. Others wrestle out loud. All of them live in the space between who we are and who we’re trying to become.

Jason is as comfortable in an intimate listening room as he is with a full band. Years of holding live rooms have shaped a presence that feels grounded, conversational, and unforced — the kind of artist who can carry both the silence between songs and the story behind them. Whether stripped down to voice and keys or backed by driving guitars and drums, the focus remains the same: honest connection.

This isn’t music built on slogans or easy answers. It’s built on honesty. On the tension between darkness and light. On the belief that even in the in-between, there is still something worth holding onto.

Stubborn hope runs through it all.

“Be My Vision” was born from a poem Cheryl wrote during a season when she was literally losing her eyesight. What began as a physical reality became a deeper metaphor for both of us — for those seasons when you simply can’t see what’s next.

This song isn’t only for those who have lost physical sight. It’s for anyone who knows the darkness of the in-between. The career decision you can’t make. The relationship you don’t know how to move forward in. The season where you’re stuck in the dip, wondering whether to keep climbing the hill you’re on or find a different one entirely.

God is not intimidated by your honesty. There are moments when He feels distant. We’ve lived that. But we’ve also found that the most honest prayers often come from the darkest places.

“Be My Vision” is about stubborn hope—the kind that chooses to believe God still shows up, especially when the stakes are high and the road isn’t clear.

Pray the prayer. Write the journal. Sing the song. Do whatever you need to do...but don’t stop looking. Sometimes it’s when you least expect it that the light breaks through.
